stuck in the k(m) hole again

Howdy.  So we’ve had some crazy friggin’ distances of late.  Last week we an average of 100 miles a day.  We also had the longest day of the tour this week.  It was 210 km.  They didn’t want to make it to easy on us, so that day we woke up to pouring rain.  The roads definitly left something to be desired, and we had a headwind for a good amount of it.  I decided that it still seemed too easy so I elected to put my tent stakes in poorly the night before.  When the huge thunderstorm happened at around midnight the pegs came out and the water started coming in my tent.  Being a deep sleeper I didn’t wake up till my tent was almost completely flooded.  I spent an hour or so trying to clean it up, then I was unable to fall back asleep.  I stayed up for a few more hours before finally managing to get another hour of sleep.  I wouldn’t recommend not sleeping much before a huge biking day, it ain’t fun.  Fortunately we were in Botswana at the time, and the roads there are very exciting and will keep you engaged for hours.  I’m relatively certain that I actually managed to fall asleep while bicycling.  Oh well, we’re out of the biggest distances and are now in Namibia.  This is the last country we go through before we reach S. Africa.  I am getting very excited.

love
