It’s always sunny in Namibia
Howdy. Alright, that’s a lie. It’s not always sunny in Namibia, judging by the past few days its virtually never sunny in Namibia. However today was sunny and wonderful. I don’t know why it is, but some days are just great. We’re still riding over dirt, it’s still cold in the mornings and threatening rain, but I had an awesome day today. While we were riding a herd (gaggle, pack, murder?) of springbok were racing across the road. I definitely see why they got their name, those things can jump! I tried to get some photos but they were too fast for me. Then we got to lunch and finally did the naked mile. G and I have been talking about it all week, yesterday was too cold and rainy, and the day before didn’t work for some other reason. So Adam, G, and I rode off after lunch almost completely naked (I had on arm warmers, shoes and socks, and my fucking stupid helmet). G had to turn around and go back to lunch because he still had duties there, but Adam and I soldiered on. Eventually Jason caught up to us, also butt naked and the three of us rode together. We were stopped for a pee break (peeing while naked in the middle of Africa is awesome) when we saw a group of ostriches running along. I’m positive that this is the first time I’ve ever seen an ostrich whilst naked. Jason and Adam eventually put their clothes back on, but I was really enjoying myself and didn’t want to. I was thinking about going into camp naked, but I really didn’t know if camp was inside a town or not. I ended up putting on my clothes before I got in, just to be on the safe side. After we left lunch a few groups of people also rode off naked. Big props to American Dan, Jacob, Simon, Hilde, Jenn and Steph. If the opportunity to ride naked through Namibia ever presents itself, I highly suggest you jump at it.
love

Thanks for the update. Bizarre to think about, but thanks anyway. I hope the decathlon is going well.
It must be pretty exciting to be in the homestretch of your trip.
Rob and I spent time today working on the guest bathroom. It will be ready to use when you visit; you’ll even be able to turn on the light without the adjacent closet lighting up too.
